پاتریک جین: حقیت تلخه، میدونم. در واقع ریشه زیست شناختی داره. مغز ما صدا رو زودتر از نور پردازش میکنه ولی سرعت نور از صدا بیشتره پس مغز ما دائما داره واقعیت رو تغییر میده تا دنیا هماهنگ بشه.
داک دوگان: خب این چه ربطی داره؟
پاتریک جین: ربط اش اینه. فقط وقتی که یک نفر تو 27 متری ما باشه میتونیم دنیا رو اونطوری که هست ببینیم و بشنویم. اینجاست که مغز و نور و صدا در هماهنگی کامل هستند.
داک دوگان: که چی؟
پاتریک جین: مابقی اوقات ما توی دنیایی پر از دروغ زندگی میکنیم. دروغ هایی که دنیا رو معقول میکنن. بنابراین، حقیقت تلخه.
Patrick Jane: The truth hurts, I know. It's biologically based actually. Our brains process sound faster than they do light, but light moves faster than sound. So the brain is constantly shifting reality so the world syncs up.
Doc Dugan: What does that have to do with anything?
Patrick Jane: This. Only when someone is standing 30 yards away do we see and hear the world exactly as it is. That's when your brain, sound and light are all in perfect harmony.
Doc Dugan: So?
Patrick Jane: The rest of the time we are living in a world of lies. Lies are what make the world make sense. Ergo, the truth hurts
